Parent/Teacher conference

After 7 weeks of Kindergarten, we had our first parent/teacher conference today with Drew's teacher, Mrs. Hickman. Yesterday was set aside for us to hold these conferences all day. So, I was teacher all day yesterday and today after school, I got to be parent and hear all the wonderful things my son does while he's in school! It was so refreshing. We heard nothing but good things from her. He's adjusting well to Kindergarten, making friends and will play with anyone and not exclude kids. He's cooperative, attentive, helpful to her and others, and also offers his answer every now and then! He truly loves school. He comes home and tells us the cool things they are doing in class, like the day Mrs. Hickman brought in a praying mantis....they caught a cricket and watched the mantis eat the cricket. Drew came home that day and told me that praying mantises only eat live food! I didn't even know that.
It takes a very special person to teach kindergarten, and Mrs. Hickman has been doing this for a long time and still chooses it and loves it! We will be getting progress reports halfway through each 9 week grading period. She showed us this first one, and it looked awesome!
We are expecting his 1st report card next week. We are so very, very proud of him and how well he's doing in school. He loves school, his teacher, his new friends and everything else about school. Well, except for how early we have to wake up to get there! Even homework has gotten better.
Thanks Mrs. Hickman for ALL you do EVERY single day! We love you and are truly blessed to have you this year!
