"bad word sauce"

So, I read this blog called "The Meanest Mom" and it's hilarious. I enjoy reading her blogs about her kids and what a smart ass she is and she reminds me of myself in many ways! I was reading her blog the other day and she had one about bad words and how she keeps her kids from saying them. We have had issues with Drew saying "poo-poo", "poop", etc. not in reference to going potty! He has been told many times not to say these words, that mommy doesn't like them. Well, he knows what buttons to push on me and that's one he pushes a lot. We started with saying that word or any other bad word, the consequence is a time out, then we started to take favorite things away like, "Cars", trashtruck, books, etc. None of it worked. I told him that when his daddy was little he got his mouth washed out with soap for saying bad words! That didn't work either! He thought that was funny. And being curious, one day he licked his soapy hands, and said it wasn't so bad!
So, enter the meanest mom. She uses hotsauce and jalepenos to threaten her kids so they don't say bad words! I suggested that to Craig, and he loved the idea! We told Drew of his new punishment and he didn't like the idea!
So about 3 nights ago we were eating dinner and Drew looked at me said "poop" smiling! That pissed me off enough to jump up from the table and ask daddy where the hotsauce was! Keep in mind how dramatic I can be.....
Drew immediately started screaming and crying and he just kept saying "sorry, sorry, sorry" and " I don't like hotsauce!" So I got the hotsauce out of the pantry and slammed it down on the table! Then Drew started crying more and asking me for a hug! That was all it took! Just the threat.
It has been sitting on the table ever since then and every time he sees it he says "no more bad words!" kinda like he's reminding himself! We were so hopeful that the threat of the hotsauce on the tongue would be enough. I was planning on blogging today about the threat being so funny and leaving it at that.
However, I can't leave it at that, sadly. Drew got sauced today! We were playing and he said the dreaded word. Craig got up to get the hotsauce and Drew was just beside himself. After about 5 minutes of wrestling, Craig dabbed the sauce on his finger and then dabbed that on Drew's tongue. It was so dramatic, I honestly think that the thought of it was a lot worse than the hotsauce itself! It was such a small amount. He kept saying, "I didn't like that, it was hot". Well, that was the point!!! So hopefully that will be the end of bad words! At least until he develops a taste for spicy foods.......

Lunch with Grandma

Drew had a great lunch date today! He got to eat with Grandma at school! Although this day was not planned! Last night, like every night, I tell Drew the lunch choices for the next day. One of the choices today was steakfingers, which he loves, so he said he would eat those! Well, we got to school this morning and Drew went to make his choice at school and wanted to put his name under lunchbox! UM, OOPS! I didn't pack a lunchbox because he said he wanted steakfingers! Oh my! TEARS!!! :(
So, to stop the tears I quickly said that I would try to get in touch with Grandma and see if she could bring him lunch! Luckily, Craig got in touch with her fast and she was more than happy to bring him lunch! He requested chicken nuggets and she had a hard time actually finding someone who served lunch at 10am!!! She settled on DQ and he loved it! He was so excited! He told us all about his date with Grandma and that he took her back to his classroom after lunch and showed her around!
THANKS GRANDMA for making his day! You will have to do that again, but more planned next time! Sorry about that today!

how many bites?

We were eating dinner tonight and Drew had picked a rice kripsie treat for dessert while I was cooking! We put it on the table and he knew that he had to eat his spaghetti first. So, after about 10 minutes he asked me how many bites he had to take before he could eat his rice krispie treat, and Craig answered "4" to which Drew replied "OK, 2 more then!" You see, he had eaten 2 bites already! We couldn't exactly argue with that since he had done such quick (and correct!) math! But, I think Daddy learned a lesson....."4 more" is what you say next time Daddy!!!!!
Sometimes we are just astonished at how smart our little guy is!

Goodbye Hammy Hamster

Hammy Hamster! Isn't he cute!? He loved carrots!

Drew's hamster "Hammy" died yesterday. The worst part of that is Drew was the one to discover him. Drew and Daddy had gone into Drew's room to get Hammy out of his cage to clean it. When they reached in to get Hammy, he didn't move. I was in the living room playing with Dylan and heard Drew start to scream and then he ran into the living room. He ran straight to my arms and couldn't speak. My heart sank and I just knew what had happened. I kept asking Drew what was wrong, hoping that maybe Hammy bit Daddy or something. Afterall, that would be better than death, right!? Before Drew could settle down enough to tell me, Craig walked out with the little lifeless hamster in his hand and he was just shaking his head and looking down. So that confirmed it for me....Hammy had died.
Oh my gosh, it was so sad. Drew cried for about 10 more minutes and kept asking why Hammy had died. We have had pets die before, but for some reason, this one hit him hard. He immediately wanted to bury Hammy and asked Craig if we could do that. Of course we did. We buried him in the front flower bed and I painted an "H" on a rock and Drew placed that rock right on top of where Hammy now lies. So sad, the thought crossed my mind about when our dogs die, how will we handle that if this hamster was so traumatic?
So, now we have no hamster and this great cage. So Drew decided last night that he needed another little pet, possibly a hamster, to go in this great cage!!!! Ah, to be (almost) 4 again!!! Guess we are OK now!

Drew and Hammy....in the beginning!

ahhh....

well, it's officially the weekend after a short, but long, week back at work/school/daycare for us! Drew woke up this morning super excited because he knew that today he would be going hunting again with his Daddy, cousins, and grandparents. I however will be staying home with Dylan! We just aren't quite ready to take Dylan to the ranch! Today was extra special for Drew because Daddy came to get him from school early in order to leave and get to the ranch in time for the evening hunt! Drew really loves it there and he was super excited! I am not nearly as nervous this time about them going. So that means that I have a weekend with just me and Dylan! Which luckily for me, that means lots of reading time! I can finish the 3rd Twilight series book and start the 4th! If you have read them or are reading them, then you understand my obsession! I'm in love with a vampire! And I'm going to see the movie tonight with some friends from work! I can't wait until tonight! I'm so excited!
I truly do like these weekends though, it gives me a faint look back to when I just had one baby to take care of, and me time during naps! I just don't have many of those days anymore. Not that I would ever change that now that I do have that life. I love my life, I love my boys, I love my husband. Life is good, damn good! I'm the luckliest Mommy in the world and I thank God everday that he chose me to be Drew and Dylan's mommy!! They are the best!

Christmas Vacation

Well, it's been a great 2 weeks off! We had 4 Christmases again this year! By the 4th one Drew was a little tired of opening gifts, but we managed! My brother came over and watched the movie "Christmas Vacation" with us Christmas night! It has become a tradition for us!

The boys and I spent most days in our pj's and had no where to be! It was absolutely wonderful! I got hooked on the Twilight books! We all got everything we wanted for Christmas and for that we feel truly blessed and loved. We have wonderful family and friends that we love and cherish dearly. Of course we miss those who can't be with us at these times, but are thankful we have memories of them to hold close.
As 2008 closed, Craig and I reflected on our favorite and least favorite times of the year and made goals for 2009. We both agreed that the best thing of 2008 was Dylan Craig being born!

April 28th--best day of 2008! We are now complete!

Here are some random pics of the last 2 weeks!
