Hotel life

This boy loves staying at hotels! He was so happy when we told him we were going to Waco AND staying in a hotel.
It makes me sad everytime we stay in a hotel. I wish we could stay at my parents house. If my dad were still alive, they'd still have that house, and he would be delighted to have us.
But, he's not here anymore and the house is no longer ours. Yes, after almost 12 years, I still think about that.
My crazy little family of four overtakes my Grandma's house when we stay, although she loves it. And we kinda overtake my brother's house too. So, sometimes we stay in a hotel. Drew loves it and I think Dylan really liked it this past weekend.

Road Trip

We headed to Waco Friday for my niece's 1st birthday and my Grandma's family reunion. We had to come back Saturday for Craig's high school reunion get together and so he could go fishing at the coast Sunday. Needless to say, the boys and I are doing nothing today after a hectic 9 days of constantly going!
So, we have a portable DVD player that we always use on trips. We only use it on trips that are an hour or longer. We didn't have headphones, so Craig and I would hear the tv and not really be able to listen to our music or talk that much. So on my weekly trip to Target last week, I came across these cute kids headphones. You can change out the colors or decorate your own. They also limit how loud your kid can listen to them so their hearing is protected. Drew went with the blue robots and Dylan chose orange stars. They kept the headphones on the whole trip and watched trashtrucks, firetrucks, and construction trucks shows!

Adirondack Chairs

I bought these from Pottery Barn for the kids. Now we have 4 adult sized ones and 2 kids ones.
Drew wanted to build his. And Dylan helped.

Here are the 3 of them building a chair.

And here's Drew trying out his new chair!
Now we all have nice chairs to sit in outside.

Potty

Well......it's been 3 days now in a row that Dylan has woke up dry from nap and immediately went tee tee in his potty.
He's also going right before bath for the last several weeks. After he tee tees, he pulls the underneath part of his potty and procedes to dump that in the big potty! Then runs to the kitchen where he gets his potty reward jellybean!
During the day, he tells me when he has "made poops" and runs to his room to get a clean hiney and gets upset if I don't let him sit on the potty. And very often, he will stop and stare at his diaper while he tee tees. Then says he needs to go potty.
Ah man, I'm thinking he's getting really close to doing this full swing. Where did my babies go?!

Dentist

We love our dentist, Dr. Jenny! The boys had their half yearly appt. About a week after school was out. They did awesome! Dylan even sat in the chair without me!

Both boys were added to the NO Cavity club! I'm so proud!
Drew picked chocolate chip cookie dough for his flavor that day! They give them glasses to wear since the lights are so bright. And the gloves are cherry flavored!

I'm so proud of my boys. Even though sometimes they whine about brushing their teeth, it's worth it!

ThAnK yOu PeGaSuS!

Drew with his amazing Pegasus teachers. From left, Ms. Jo, Mrs. Perisho, Mrs. Beck and Ms. Joyce. He was with 2 of these teachers for 2 years! the others almost 1 and 1/2 years. I loved hearing about his days with these 4 ladies. He would come home and say, "Today in Ms. Jo's small group...." It was so cool that he got to work with all 4 ladies all the time. This picture was taken in our school motor lab where they went to work on motor skills daily. It was almost the last day of school. Drew loved school so much. He was always wanting to go and days he missed, he'd ask me what his friends were doing at that particular time. We are all going to miss these ladies.

I cried on his last day of school. Not mine, but his last day. I know he has bonded with these ladies, they are his first school teachers. He is super excited about kindergarten, and thanks to the hard work and dedication of his teachers, he is very ready for kindergarten! Now, we need to work on me getting ready for him to be in kindergarten!

Pegasus teachers, I hope you know how truly loved, appreciated, respected, needed you all were! Thanks for taking care of and loving my boy!

Calgon, take me away....

Well, today was not a very good day. BOTH boys were super duper cranky all day. They fought all day and were in and out of timeout several times. I don't think 1 thing out of Drew's mouth wasn't a whine. Dylan fussed at nap and bedtime, something he rarely does! He said all day how much his teeth hurt, then at bath time his tummy hurt!? what?!
Both boys wanted me to put them to bed. Sorry, but I can't be 2 places at once.
I know they are tired. I know Dylan is in pain. It's days like this that I wish I could split myself in half. I'm hoping with camps, and swimming lessons and gymnastics all coming up soon, we will stay plenty busy. Maybe they just have cabin fever?! We should go somewhere tomorrow!
Tomorrow will be better! Right?! If not, I'm moving to Australia! ;)
oh and PS: mommies, do you have a sibling rivalry book that you just love and could recommend??? Thanks!

summer

oh my! summer vacation is here for us. This has been our first week and we have loved it. The boys and I have dedicated a breakfast each day of the week that starts with that letter. Monday Muffins, Tuesday Toast, Wednesday Waffles. Thursday was harder...Toaster Struedels! And Friday is Free choice! On Tuesday, we went to the grocery store and I let them pick any and all snack foods and lunch items they wanted. We bought 7 different fruits. We have had a healthy lunch everyday and I feel so good about that. I'm letting them decide and agree on lunch daily. I also have made a home cooked dinner and it feels so good. I mean, I do that during the school year too, but those dinners have to be 30 minutes to prepare. During the summer I can put something in the oven for 2 hours.
Wednesday morning I took both boys to the dentist where they both did awesome! (more on that later!) Then Wednesday night, Grandma came over to watch Dylan while we took Drew to his first hockey game! That was a lot of fun. And after about an hour, Drew admitted to missing Dylan! "Just a little bit!", but still.....warmed my heart! On our way out, Drew spotted a cute teddybear with the team jersey on it. He picked up 2! one for himself and one for Dylan of course! So sweet!
Today, we are being lazy. Dylan is teething, getting his back molars. And Drew is exhausted from last night! It's almost lunch time, then naps for everyone!
We hope that this summer continues to be as fun as this week has been! There are camps, gymnastics, swimming, vacation bible school, trips to Waco, a family trip to the beach all to still be had. Also, weekly trips to our local library and sprinkler park!
