Weekends without Daddy

Well, hunting season is in full swing and that means that Craig is gone A LOT of weekends!
I can honestly tell you that these weekends are bittersweet, but definitely more sweet than bitter! I get the whole weekend with my boys but am completely ehxausted by the time Sunday rolls around and Craig gets home! Craig leaves on Friday afternoons before we are even home from school and doesn't get back until after our naps Sunday afternoon. Drew loves this because now that he is the ripe 'ol age of 3 1/2 he gets to sleep in Mommy's bed and we watch his favorite movie (Cars) and eat popcorn with skittles or jellybeans! Yes, I got that idea from my fave show Jon and Kate plus 8!!!! :) We have a very good routine going for us too! Dylan wakes up at 6 am 7 days a week, no matter what! He's our early bird. So, I sneak out of bed at 6 am careful not to wake up Drew and go get Dylan out of bed for his morning bottle! I get alone time with Dylan at that time because Drew is still sleeping. So, I feed Dylan and we play for about 2 hours. Then at 8:00 Dylan is down for his morning nap and Drew is up! Sometimes I can crawl back into bed and lay with Drew but only for about 30 minutes then he is ready to get up and have breakfast! So, I make him some pancakes (lately it has been pumpkin) and we have alone time together!
I can sometimes convice him to lay on the couch or in bed with me to watch some tv, and I'll close my eyes for just a little bit longer! Usually this does not work!
Then Dylan wakes around 10 and we all 3 are up and going until 1. In that time, we may go somewhere, eat lunch, play outside! Then all 3 of us are down for afternoon nap around 1-3. Then after 3 we are all up and going, doing things until it's time for bath and bed and that routine starts at 6:30. Dylan is asleep by 7:30 and Drew and I are in bed watching Cars and eating popcorn by 8:30. Drew also gets to take a bubble bath in my big tub on the weekends while I get ready for bed! He loves that!
We all miss Craig and are happy when he comes back home, but we also really enjoy having that time alone just Mommy and her boys!
However, I can honestly say that when the time comes and both boys are old enough to go hunting with Daddy, those will be bittersweet days too!!!! Maybe they can buy Mommy her Malti-Poo pup when that time comes!
Drew is going hunting with Daddy the weekend of Thanksgiving! I'm completely nervous and excited all at the same time for that! Craig also wants to take me! He bought me a bow this summer and I love shooting it. So, now I have to make the time to practice and then go!!!
I guess one day all 4 of will be out there in deer stands hunting and shooting at stuff!!! I know that will make Craig very happy!!
