Drew's obsession!

So, some of you know this, but Drew is obsessed with trash and recycling! Dumpsters, garbage trucks, garbage cans, recycling bins all fascinate him! He notices them everywhere we go, and I mean everywhere! As we drive by some place, even if it's a place we drive by everyday, he wants to see their dumpster! What's in it, what's on it, what color is it! All of that is very important to him! It's somewhat hilarious, quirky, and annoying all at the same time! Well, even at school he wants to know what's going in everyone's garbage cans!

So, here's a conversation that we had about a week ago, that prompted something I didn't think a 3 year old would even care about!

Drew: Mommy, what's that big green and yellow dumpster at your school?

Mommy: Well, that is our school paper recycling bin.

Drew: Why, Mommy?

Mommy: Well, we use a lot of paper at school and instead of throwing it away and it sitting in a city dump forever, we recycle it so it can be made into something new!

Drew: Oh, do your big kids use that dumpster?

Mommy: Yes, we do! We have a class recycling box.

Drew: How did you get that?

Mommy: We made it.

Drew: Can I make one?

Mommy: Do you recycle in your classroom?

Drew: No, but we need to.

Mommy: Well, does your teacher have a box?

Drew: No.

Mommy: Well, what should we do about that?

Drew: We should make one for my classroom!

Mommy: You want to make a recycling box for your classroom?

Drew: Yeah, can we!?

Mommy: Well, I'll ask Ms. Beck and see what she says!

Drew: OK, but I really think we should make one!

Mommy: OK Drew, I'll ask her!

So, that was it. So, I thought!!!!!!!!

A few days went by and Drew asked me if I had asked Ms. Beck about the recycling box yet! Of course I had not. I was honestly kinda hoping that he would forget. Silly me! He doesn't forget anything, what the heck was I thinking!?

So, of course Ms. Beck said that she was thinking of making one and would love for us to make one.

So, the search was on for a perfect box and design! My mom found a great box and Drew wanted to decorate it to look like our recycling box at home!

We decorated the box tonight and painted it to look like ours! He was so proud that he posed with a cheezy grin and all!!!
