I didn't understand the importance/meaning/pride that goes into the Boston marathon until I became a serious runner (not that long ago!). It's THE biggest and most important Elite marathon in the world. The finish line is permanently painted on the street!
You can't just sign up for it. You have to qualify or be invited.
What happened yesterday is sickening/saddening/unspeakable.
The running world has dedicated this whole week to victims who were killed or injured and their families, by wearing race shirts all week and running in their memory and honor.
My boys and I will do our part too in that. After all, it's the least we can do.
I am a runner. I will never get to Boston to run, but I will definitely always respect this race and the sport.
